I was having an intermittent problem with my truck--it would just quit while driving it! I had it towed to the shop (because it was the closest--I'd never heard of them before), and wouldn't you know it, it started right up when they tried to look at it. They hooked it up and ran diagnostics, but the computer wasn't showing any faults. They even tried driving it, but it ran fine. When I showed up to retrieve my vehicle, I was expecting to pay a diagnostic hook-up fee, but there was no charge! They said, "that's not the way we do business. We'll charge you when we fix the problem." Well sure enough, it happened again, and the mechanic was able to zero in on the problem. He asked me several questions as to what had happened at the time of the incident, what indications I saw, etc. The fault codes that were sent were indicating two different systems. Turns out, it was an obscure ground on the back of the engine block, and the mechanic was able to deduce the real cause based on the codes, combined with my description of the problem! You can't get this kind of service at the dealership. They're honest, friendly, and know how to take care of my vehicle. They've earned my business for life!
